Organized yearly by the Middle East Technical University's Science Fiction and Fantasy Society, Metucon is Turkey's oldest and biggest Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention. With nearly half a thousand guests every year, Metucon is now fulfiling the dream of its founders: to create an environment where every SF&F enthusiast in the country can come together to exchange their view on the art.

Each year, some 50 tabletop RPGs from all kinds of settings and incorporating all kinds of genres become the main focus of the event, along with live-action RPGs (also known as freeforms) that are hand-picked for quality. Supporting these is a wide variety of tabletop wargames, card game tables operating on a come-and-sit-down basis, movie shows, conferences from SF&F topic experts, sundry games and much more.

The METU Science Fiction and Fantasy Society is dedicated to open its flagship event to the international scene. As such, we are happy to review every request on an individual basis, and commit ourselves to providing the highest possible level of satisfaction for our international guests. For every request or question you may have, please do not hesitate to contact this year's international guests coordinator, Tuna Soncul through the international@metucon.org addess. We are looking forward to hosting you this year, May 17-19, in Metucon.

Gaming

Should you wish to take part in a role-playing game, the event committee will try and arrange the best option for you. To help us reslve any issues with the language barrier, please tell us the languages you are willing to speak during the event.

For tabletop RPGs, the society traditionally keeps aside one of its GMs until the last minute, available to create a game to be played in English. If you do want to take part in a tabletop as a player, the international guests coordinator will try and arrange a game for your taste. Should you wish to demonstrate your storytelling abilities, we will be more than happy to provide you with english-speaking players for your game.

For LARPs, the international guests coordinator will provide you with assistance on selecting the best game to fit your tastes, and coordinate with the game creators for integrating the eventual language barrier into the game.

Participating in the side events will be easier, as there will always be someone on the floor to help with eventual language problems. However, it should also be noted that most SF&F enthusiasts speak at least a basic level of English and possibly other languages.

For each question that you may have, or for your gaming requests, please do not hesitate to contact international@metucon.org.

Product Placement

If you are a game designer, a costume-maker, video producer, writer or have any product or any skill that you wish to show to Science Fiction and Fantasy enthusiasts in Turkey, Metucon is the event to do it.

As with Turkish marketers, we welcome amateurs or professionals in the crafts to display their skills to the Turkish audience. Last year's guest, Mr. Enoksson, tells it better than we could do in his blog, the Bohemian Capitalist.

For any questions or concerns, please contact us at international@metucon.org.

Coming to Ankara

We are happy to have you considering to visit us in Metucon. To facilitate your stay and your planning, we can provide you with detailed information on both your travel to Ankara and your stay there.

The Society has reached an agreement to have its guests stay in the University dormitories. However, due to the limited size allocated to us, the places may have already be reserved when you contact us. In such a case, we will provide you with a cozy bed at one of our members homes. Should you want otherwise, we can also research other options for you.

Unless you come directly to Ankara, we can also research in-country transportation for you from any other city, and arrange a courtesy pick-up from the terminus of arrival in Ankara.

Incidentally, if you ever get lost trying to find us, we are in Ankara, Turkey. Once you are in the city, ask for "Orta Dogu Teknik Universitesi", and once you are in the campus, ask for the "Kafeterya Binasi".

Please contact international@metucon.org for any questions or requests that you may have.
